Well, the reviews are in for the new Keanu Reeves picture and, surprise, surprise, it's a huge dud. It's amazing to me that people still pay to see that fool. Whenever I see a trailer for a new Reeves movie -- one in which he doesn't play a total idiot, I cringe. Because, as everyone knows, the only parts he can actually pull off are the ones in which he plays a moron, like in "Parenthood" or the "Bill and Ted" flicks. In "The Matrix" series, his only real motivation was to look cool in sunglasses and let Laurence Fishburne do all the talking (a brilliant move by the filmmakers, by the way). In this updated version of "The Day the Earth Stood Still," he plays an android-like alien with little expression or feelings, just a deadpan delivery, so it should be easy for him, right? Wrong! He's still horrible! I don't know any other actor who can be so unbelievable just turning his head. But, as long as people keep paying to see his "work," what can we do?
The same thing goes for Matthew McConaughey, who I might hate watching even more than I hate Keanu -- or I should say, hate listening to him, really. His "charming" Southern accent stopped being charming about 12 years ago, right after his breakthrough hit, "A Time to Kill." Now, it's just pathetic and sad. It's as if he believes that's why people pay to see him: for his stupid accent. "We Are Marshall" would have been so much better without his pompous ass.
Keanu and Matthew are proof that anyone can make it in the movie business -- that is, as long as you know the right people and are devilishly attractive.
Let's just hope they never get a major role tailored for them that Oscar voters eat up. Hey, if Jennifer Tilly can get nominated, anyone can.

What do you look like? What talent do you have? The only talent you seem to have is critiquing those with looks and talent. Target talentless people that deserve your criticism Kelly Ripa. She gets by on her looks all the time. She not only ruined Hope & Faith, but she finished the destruction of ABC's TGIF that Family Matters started. Two hours of Hope & Faith? Why ABC? Why did you do that to he audience? Married to the Kellys, Freddie and that show Fred Savage was on was MUCH better than Hope&Faith. That show would've been good had Kelly Ripa not been on it. Matter of fact, she's ruined Live, also. Why would they pair her up with Regis? They are still painfully awkward with one another. Heather Locklear is another one that ruins every show of which she joins the cast. She ruined Scrubs and Spin City. The points at which the shows tend to bring her in are pointless. Her characters are pointless and throw of the chemistry of the cast. In fact, her character overshadows everyone in the cast but the main character. Even then, the main character's role becomes secondary to hers. She almost tanked Two and a Half Men. Melrose Place only survived because of all of the other amazing talent on the show. Heather isn't bad altogether, but she is about even steven with Keanu. You're just wrong about Matthew McConahey. Locklear has become Ted McGinley's female counterpart of shark jumping. Both of them have fallen prey to the "Lets bring on the extremely good-looking person to save this tanking show" strategy. Even though McGinley was on Hope&Faith from the beginning, there was also the hammy and too old to act like a 5th grader Kelly Ripa on the show. With Kelly in the mix, that show was doomed and needed to be saved from the start.

I still think that Keanu and Matthew don't deserve this abuse, but I kinda feel bad about my remarks on Heather Locklear and Kelly Ripa, especially Locklear. Matthew was sooo funny in Tropic Thunder. Just the fact that he was in Tropic Thunder makes him forever fantastic. So, clarifying my feelings, I'll say that I like Locklear on shows that she's on from the start of the series. Yet, when he joins the cast of an aleardy popular show, the writers and producers tend to make the show all about her and the rest of the cast takes a back seat. Kelly should just have a show all by herself, like host her own talk show. She really doesn't need anyone else to bounce from. However, I still hated Hope & Faith when the focus was taken off Ted McGinley and the family, and put on Kelly Ripa's Faith character. The show was soooooo funny until McGinley and the rest of the cast were overshadowed. McGinley was the reason I watched the show. Lastly, Keanu Reeves does his more mature aloof guy roles well. Nobody says anything when other actors basically portray the same type of character in every role. Just think about it. There's one action star that I can think of that has down this in most of his roles, but I am not going to go there. If you think hard enough, it'll dawn on you.

Mike McKiernan, who pissed in your cheerios? Those that do nothing but comdemn others have either a low self esteem, or low iq. In your case it seems to be both. Grow up and find a real job, something constructive to society.

You think Keanu Reeves sucks as an actor and so do I. So what! There’s got be something more interesting to talk about, then to whine about something as ridiculous as this.

I have to agree with you as far as Reeves and Mcconaughy but I must say when Pippa ties one on,before the show with Regis, she`s quite comical!

Do people really have nothing better to do then pout about keanu reeves' acting? i personally think he's a good actor. maybe not great, but most definitely not the worst! and matthew, much as i love him, i am a little tired of all the romantic comedies. the point is, is that you, a guy, chose to harp on two gorgeous actors. that just paints you as a big baby who maybe isn't as good looking, and is therefore jealous. i'm not saying that it's true, i'm just saying. that's what it looks like to me. stop complaining, and do something useful.
