In recent years, the Ken doll look -- smooth, bronze, and sculpted -- has ruled men's fashion. Ken may be an inanimate lump of plastic, but more and more actual men are aiming for his clean, non-threatening, shiny-chested look through extensive manscaping. Salon treatments like waxing, spray-on tanning, and airbrushed six-packs are becoming more common for men. For these guys, body hair is just another trendy accessory to be worn or shorn at the whims of fashion. But there are still serious fans of the natural look -- and not just '70s throwbacks with gold chains and alarming beachwear. Fashion mavens and models are flaunting their follicles, and hirsute Hollywood hunks from Hugh Jackman to Jake Gyllenhaal to Jude Law are proudly sporting plush man-pelts. Is the pendulum of fashion swinging back toward the lumberjack look? Will we once again celebrate thick carpets of chest hair as symbols of manliness and virility? Perhaps not, but we're glad the toy chest holds some teddy bears along with the Ken dolls.
