Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen turn 21 today. Yup, the wittle girls are all grown up now. Though, this birthday may not be as big of a deal as it was when they turned 18. Back then, web sites with questionable intent counted down the days until "America's favorite fantasy" were of legal age to pose in Playboy. So far, the fraternal twins have managed to stay out of adult magazines, and their occasional appearances in the dirty celeb rags have been limited to their dates, fashion, or weight (and Mary-Kate's eating disorder is far from bad behavior). Considering their peers, you really have to give them credit for that. Since the age of six months, MK and Ash have made a positive name for themselves. From their scene-stealing moments on "Full House" to a direct-to-video series to building their own empire -- all before they were 10 years old! Not many kids in the biz make it past the cute stage, let alone sober and uber rich. Maybe even more impressive is that they have both avoided run-ins with DUIs, rehab, "accidental" public nudity, sex tapes, and jail time -- so far. Keep it up, girls!

The twins share a birthday with my sons, Jeff who is 24 today and brother Garrett who is 21 today. We enjoyed watching Full House because "Michelle" was the same age as Garrett. Ah they good ol' days

Very well written article, Mike! I agree with everything you mentioned. My hope is that the papprazzi, sick-fans, and everyone except their friends just leave them alone.
