Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man swings back into the box office today in the much-anticipated "Spider-Man 3." With all the buzz surrounding this arachnid hero, we think his unsung brethren deserve some loving attention. Here's a tribute to just a few marginalized, bug-inspired characters who may have gotten lost in the wide web of comics history: - Maggott - this Marvel mutant hosts hungry slugs in his stomach
- Insect Queen - Superman's sweetheart with a bug's booty
- Grasshopper - a short-lived, super-leaping security guard
- Wasp - the stinging woman gets stronger when she shrinks
- Ant-Man - an ex-con who can telepathically talk with insects
- Ambush Bug - this teleporting trickster knows of his role in DC Comics
- The Red Bee - a 1940's lawyer fights Nazis with trained bees
- Queen Bee - a stinger-shooting villainess in platform shoes
- The Tick - the brainless, buff dude in blue (with a moth sidekick)
- The Bee Man - this scientist plans to rule Earth with alien bees
Suggested Sites...
- The Green Hornet - the newspaper publisher who fights crime with his Kung Fu valet Kato (Bruce Lee).
- The Beetle - a name claimed by many pesky people wearing a special armored suit.
- The Black Widow - the Russian secret agent who shocks her adversaries.
- The Blue Beetle - the vitamin-popping cop with a bullet-proof suit.
- The Fly - an early creation by Archie Comics.
