Don't worry about the date, there's still time to get out the glue gun and start crafting decorations to spruce things up for the holidays. Turn a stashed-away stack of paper plates into "stained glass" pictures to hang on the wall. If you're hanging decorations on a tree, give old, scratched-up ornaments a makeover with ribbons, paint, and even split peas! You don't have to be a Martha Stewart to customize your own magical snow globes -- any old jar will do for this personalized project. Self-hardening clay for a homemade menorah adds a nice custom touch to Hanukkah celebrations. For Kwanzaa gatherings, why not transform a little red, black, and green felt into a child's kufi head covering? The nice thing about many DIY decoration projects -- like marshmallow polar bears -- if you make a mistake, you can eat it and start over.

i've nothing against calling Christmas by it's name cause that's what it is, however, they weren't just talking about Christmas decorations, clearly they gave ideas about Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, therefore they can't confine the title to just one of the holidays. Stop trying to start controversy.

I like the ideas - thanks. Always looking for something new.

And I agree; "holiday decorations"? (GROAN) It's Christmas decorations, Christmas presents, Christmas stroll, Christmas shopping, Christmas songs, Christmas tree.... CHRISTMAS, what's wrong with saying that? I'm not a Christian and it doesn't bother me at all.

Political correctness.....BAH HUMBUG!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE :)

Stanawaykathy,

Why don't you actually read the whole article next time instead of having a knee-jerk reaction to the article headline. Last time I checked both Hanukkah and Kwanzaa were celebrated in December as well as Christmas.

Why don't we all stop arguing about what to call it and concentrate on celebrating the reason for our own personal season! Whatever one you celebrate I hope God has blessings for you.

why can't we all just get along. have a blessed christmas.

stanawaykathy, you really need to be a little more open-minded. Those of you who have such a fit about the whole "christmas" word need to realize that there are SEVERAL holidays in December and January that people celebrate. We live in a big, big world. Your over-enthusiasm about only one religion being recognized is a lot like the "whites only" and "coloreds only" drinking fountains in the south before civil rights. Just GROW UP. Stop living in a vacuum. You are part of a global community, even if you live in a trailer park.

This is the reason WHY they say "Holiday" instead of "Christmas" because even those of you trying to be open minded and adding in Hanakah and Kwanza are leaving out other holidays that are celebrated at this time of year. Yule is celebrated every year on Dec 21, which is the winter solstice. THOUSANDS of pagans across america celebrate Yule every year. There are others as well. Too many to list them all in every article. Which is exactly why it is more appropriate to say "holiday" then "christmas". The world does not revolve around just one group of people. Christians are not the only people whose feelings matter.
