The New Zealand National Spelling Bee is a spelling competition which is open to all New Zealand Year 9 students. The competition includes four regional competitions and the final. All are held in the first term of the New Zealand school year. The prize for the overall winner is a trip of a lifetime to the USA to represent New Zealand at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington.
